Star Wars Miniatures Strategy Showcase 5

Mandalorian Fury

Welcome to the Star Wars Miniatures Strategy Showcase (S3). One of the best ways to become a better player in a strategy game is to practice and analyze different game situations. In each installment of this series, we'll offer a situation for you to analyze. What overall strategy or specific tactics should each side employ to achieve victory?

New figures released in the Knights of the Old Republic set brought some powerful commander effects to the Mandalorian and New Republic factions. In this puzzle, we look at the effect of an increase in firepower to Mandalorians and added defenses to New Republic followers.

Squad 1

All characters are at full Hit Points unless noted otherwise.

General Wedge Antilles
Mara Jade Skywalker: 4 FP
Kyle Katarn, Jedi Battlemaster: 3 FP
Jagged Fel
Cloud Car Pilot
Ugnaught Demolitionist (2)

This squad has scored 10 Gambit points.

Squad 2

All characters are at full Hit Points unless noted otherwise.

Canderous Ordo: 90 HP
Mandalorian Quartermaster
Mandalorian Captain
Mandalorian Marauder
Mandalorian Scout (2)

This squad has scored 0 Gambit points.

Strategy Tips

If it helps you to solve the puzzle, you can set up the figures on the Echo Base Outpost map from the Battle of Hoth Scenario Pack. However, the blank side of a map and replacement figures work just as well. Setting up the figures might help you to make decisions about how they should move.

General Wedge Antilles' squad just won initiative and is facing a lot of firepower. What should their strategy be this round to gain an advantage? Who should be the priority target for the Mandalorians?

Gambit rules are used in this puzzle. The Gambit point of the map is to the left of the photo. The Mandalorian Marauder is the only Mandalorian figure that can reach Gambit this round. If you are unfamiliar with Gambit rules, refer to the updated Star Wars MiniaturesDCI Floor Rules (July 2008), available as a Word file or a PDF file.

Feel free to post your thoughts or questions about this puzzle in this message board thread.
